6 Tips that will make you feel more comfortable in front of a camera

Just because we live in an age where camera phones are easily accessible doesn’t mean we are all comfortable in front of a camera.

The downside of this is that it puts many women off the idea of scheduling a professional photo session, which is a shame.

If you’ve been itching to schedule your own session, here are a few tips to keep on hand that will help you feel more at ease in front of your photographer’s camera.

  1. Admit that you’re nervous. The minute you admit to yourself and your photographer that you’re feeling nervous about the shoot, the less nervous you will feel. This is because people don’t generally judge you when you admit something like that outright, making you feel more at ease. It also gives your photographer the chance to work with you in a way that will make you feel more relaxed.
  2. Relax those muscles. Simply relaxing your muscles and taking some time out to breathe before your shoot can make a big difference to how you feel in front of the camera. Stretching your body, having a relaxing cup of tea, or even a hot bath can all set you up for a much more comfortable session.
  3. Help your body out. If there are two things that will almost always show up on your face, it’s dehydration and fatigue, so rest and drink up in the week leading up to your session to look and feel good in front of the camera.
  4. Speaking of looking and feeling good. If you’re going to invest in a professional photo session, hire a hair and makeup artist, you won’t regret it. It’s only until you look in the mirror and love how you look that your confidence automatically skyrockets. The result is a great experience in front of the camera.
  5. Practice in front of the mirror. It will feel a little strange at first, but practice posing and smiling in front of the mirror so that you feel less awkward on the day of your session.
  6. Bring someone along. And if you really don’t think you can face your session alone, find out whether it would be possible to bring someone along with you, someone who always makes you feel relaxed.

In the end, even though you might be feeling nervous now, with the help of the right photographer, you can look forward to an amazing photoshoot session and photos you will want to look at again and again.
